How does one make cake even better. Why you serve it with a sauce of course. You could simply pour over a shop bought sauce of some sort but you can't really get that many flavours to suit your need down at your local supermarket. If your really out to treat yourself or impress some guests without breaking the bank why not make this delicious orange and Amaretto chocolate sauce. So decedent and boozy its defiantly one for the grown ups and once you've cracked this recipe you can change it to create an array of flavoured chocolate sauces.
Boozy Chocolate Sauce
50g Orange Flavoured Dark Chocolate
25g Butter
125ml Double Cream
1 Tbsp Golden Caster Sugar
2 Tsp Amaretto
25g Butter
125ml Double Cream
1 Tbsp Golden Caster Sugar
2 Tsp Amaretto
- Break up the chocolate and place into a bowl over a pan of simmering water. Make sure the bowl doesn't touch the water and stir occasionally until the chocolate has melted.
- Whilst the chocolate melts, add the butter, cream, sugar and Amaretto into a saucepan on a medium heat and stir until everything is well combined and the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat.
- Pour the melted chocolate into the saucepan and mix everything together as gently as possible until a smooth sauce is formed.
Simple! Pour over the pudding or cake of your choice and melt into the pure pleasure of this delicious sauce. If you don't drink or are making it to serve to children then you can leave out the Amaretto. Its such a great recipe to amend to suit who your serving it too. For changing the flavor, simply use a different flavor chocolate. Mint for chocolate puds works well as does salted chocolate for caramel puds. Just make sure you try and use a dark chocolate with a high cocoa content as I find it just makes a more silky smooth sauce.
Now thats chocolate heaven!
